About TOEFL® Town Online
Brook Davison is the owner of TOEFL® Town Online (TTO). Brook began teaching English in Seoul in 2001 and continued to do so upon her return home to Canada 3 years later. During her time abroad she noticed that students studying for the TOEFL® focus on memorizing vocabulary and improving their reading and comprehension skills. Very little time is spent developing writing skills. As a result the Independent Writing Task of the TOEFL® is a section that many students have difficulty with.
In Canada, Brook continued to work via the Internet with students at the Jeong Sang Language School (JLS) in Seoul and Pusan. As she assisted them, she saw great improvements in the students' ability to write comprehensive essays. This was rewarding because good writing skills are essential for their future success in post-secondary educational institutes. Brook then resolved to make this unique, innovative and valuable service available to ESL students across the globe and formed TOEFL® Town Online to do that.
The TOEFL® is accepted by 6,000+ institutions in more than
130 countries (PDF) and is the most widely accepted English-language test in the world. Nearly one million students write the TOEFL® each year in the hopes of being accepted to an English language university or college. At TOEFL® Town Online we aim to help these students achieve their objectives. TTO does this by assisting ESL students at all levels with quality editing and feedback on their English essays.
